Legendary 1980s band Berlin is best known for their smash hit “Take My Breath Away,” which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song after being featured in Top Gun. But their influence goes far beyond that one track as their legacy spans decades.
Emerging from Los Angeles’ underground new wave scene, Berlin made waves with their bold synth-driven sound and provocative lyrics. Tracks like “The Metro,” “No More Words,” and “Masquerade” became staples of the era, blending sultry vocals with pulsating electronic beats. The distinctive voice and edgy stage presence of iconic lead singer, Terri Nunn, helped define the band’s unique aesthetic, making them stand out among so many other great artists of the era.
Web Site Work in 2004
In response to promotions on Apple’s QuickTime site and VH1's "Bands Reunited" series, Berlin’s webmaster, Scott O’Connell, asked me to develop a web database solution for getting the band’s concert schedule and huge fan mailing list under control. The Berlin web site now integrates custom PHP scripting and MySQL database services.
Terri Nunn
To help promote the band in the 2010s, I had the opportunity to produce a series of HTML email newsletters for Terry Nunn.

John Crawford
In addition to working with Berlin, I also built the independent music website for John Crawford, the band’s founding member and bassist. Crawford was a key songwriter behind many of Berlin’s biggest hits, helping to craft their signature mix of synth-pop, rock, and electronic music. His influence on the band’s sound and success cannot be overstated.
Getting to contribute to the digital presence of such an iconic group—whose music still resonates with fans worldwide—was an exciting project that blended web design and collaboration with exceptional rock musicians.
